Community Involvement

Marion Business Association

Boyd is the President of the Marion Business Association (MBA). The MBA works with businesses, the city, and the general public to ensure their stakeholders have a means for action and are represented in the community.

Expanded in 2006 to advocate for all businesses in the City of Marion, the MBA serves as the Economic Development Office for the City of Marion and continually works between business owners, potential new businesses, the general public and elected officials addressing all areas of concern.

McDowell Endowment Fund

Boyd is the Chairman of the Board for the McDowell Endowment Fund. Education has always been a matter close to Boyd’s heart, so he is passionate about serving on the board and making a difference in the McDowell County schools.

The McDowell Endowment seeks to inspire philanthropy and strengthen charitable organizations serving the McDowell County. This endowment fund was established in 1995 by caring individuals who recognized the importance of a permanent charitable capital resource to support the ever-changing needs and opportunities in McDowell County.
